Walking Around the Boston VA

As I traverse the sidewalks surrounding the Boston VA center, I appreciate how lucky I am to walk circles around our injured and dying service members.

Each glimpse I catch of those patient room windows, between neighborhood houses and old industrial buildings, reminds me that I, too, may someday find myself looking out one of those windows as I confront my own inevitable demise.

I feel the fragility of my own life… and I giggle.
