“Feet slipping on last year's leaves Fingers gripping untouched soil Lungs and legs burning I climb Mt. Misery”
Poetry
Feet slipping on last year's leaves Fingers gripping untouched soil Lungs and legs burning I climb Mt. Misery
Alas, the crest is yielding The summit beckons
I achieve my mission despite my hesitations and anxieties
Atop this victory I see yet another challenge. Dark waters, depths unknown
But wait, I see the reflection of the man I have become. I know those depths.
…And so, I persist.

Tears stream down my face I claw my way out from dirt and ash Coals of my passion are fanned by the calm winds of a new morning.
These new tears are not of sorrow These new tears are of joy
New freedom, new challenges The adulthood dream begins.
